Message from the Minister of Tourism Malaysia

Selamat Datang! Welcome to Malaysia! On behalf of the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia, I would like to extend our warmest greetings to all tourists visiting our country. I am happy to pen a few words for the introductory page of the 7th edition of the “Malaysia Truly Asia Travel Guide”.

Malaysia is a multi-racial and multi-cultural country. In our continuing pursuit of modernisation, our country still retains our rich traditions and cultural heritage. There is uniqueness in so many things Malaysian. Our cultures, customs, religious beliefs, festivals and food are so distinct and special. They are certainly not to be missed. Geographically, Malaysia is blessed with a very pleasant climate. There are so many places to visit and so many things to eat. The places of interest range from ancient tropical rainforests to pristine beaches to lush tropical islands with great diving spots. Food comes in a great variety, from hawker fare to fine dining cuisine, some
of which are well known throughout the world. Malaysia is also a shopping haven with quality goods that are also surprisingly affordable. We are indeed grateful, but humble, that we are able to offer all of the above for the pleasure of our valued tourists.

In addition, Malaysia has an infrastructure that we are proud of. A stable economy and political climate with state-of-the-art transportation facilities are reasons enough why tourists choose to visit our country again and again. Even during the recent economy crisis, when the global tourism industry was affected to a significant degree, the rise in the number of tourists visiting Malaysia did not hit a snag. These prove that Malaysia has indeed a lot to offer to all our guests.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Aim Advertising Sdn Bhd for giving the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia its fullest support and co-operation in promoting Malaysia to the markets in China. I would like to give my endorsement to the 7th Edition of Malaysia Truly Asia Travel Guide as the official travel guide. It is my belief that it would serve us all well as the official guide for tourists who visit Malaysia. I believe that this edition would help this particular group of tourists understand our beloved country better. In the process, word would spread and more tourists would follow suit and visit Malaysia. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish all tourists – regardless of where you are from – a wonderful, memorable and enjoyable stay here in Malaysia.

马来西亚是个多元种族、多元文化的国家，我国在不断现代化的过程中仍保有丰富的传统文化及历史传统遗产。我们独特的文化、风俗、宗教信仰、节庆、民间传统美食等都是您不容错过的。马来西亚地理环境优越、气候宜人，这里有万年热带雨林、原始的沙滩、著名的热带岛屿和潜水胜地、应有尽有的民间美食、价廉物美的购物天堂供游客玩乐、血拼及享尽口福。马来西亚有良好的基本设施、交通方便、稳定的经济与政治状态，都是旅客选择观光我国的原因之一。即使是经济风暴，旅游业预测将受到严重影响，但前来我国观念光的旅客更是有增无减，这足以证明了马来西亚的魅力所在。
